Laugh often, smile a lot

We are probably the freeist, thinking life forms on earth. We have so many emotions that in an entire lifetime, we would have the opportunity to experience it all.

Unfortunately, for many of us we choose freely to frown, to cry, to shout and to curse. Where is your priority?

Laugh, my friend, laugh. You don't need to find a reason to laugh. Look at the little children playing in the field, in their own backyard, in the dining hall. The little ones laugh all the time.

Do they pause and ponder about what laughter is all about? Nope, they just laugh because it is the most natural thing in the world to do.

Laughter is probably the best medicine on earth. If people will just learn to laugh at every given opportunity, all the pharmacies in the world will go out of business.

After you have finished with laughter, proceed to love. It is one of the most talked about subjects in the world. People compose songs about love. They write novels about love.

They love to love and then proceed to indulge in love even when it is wrong. But it is the love for mankind and the feeling that you have an affinity with everything and everyone around you, that I am talking about.

Love can never be underestimated. It is as perennial as the sunshine for thousands of years. Love is when man was.

Feel your heart with love, sprinkle it with droplets of laughter and walk bravely out into the world because you shall fear nothing or want anything, for you would have everything without even asking.

They who laugh often know few sorrows. They who love much feel no pain. They who have both aplenty in their heart, mind and soul, know God.

Sleep - your most precious moment just waking up

You will be surprised to know that many, many people around the world do not sleep easy every night.

There are many reasons. It could be because they are too anxious about the events that have taken place throughout the day. It could be that they have not gotten over their work plans properly.

It could be because they are already thinking of tomorrow. It could be that guilty conscience of having done something wrong to a loved one, a friend or to themselves.

Whatever the reason it, that mindset is causing sleeplessness. Sleepless in Seattle? That's just a movie title that has lots of implications of a day gone bad.

Remember, nothing you can think of while in bed will change the cause of events that has passed or events that will take place. Change will only take place when you are back on your feet and go about actually doing things.

Meanwhile, reward yourself with a good sleep. Think happy thoughts. And most of all, have a little love for yourself. He who hates himself, punishes himself with insomnia.

Many a tycoon, head of state, head of the house, or even one who thinks he has nothing to worry about have experienced restless nights many times in their lives.

The catch is to sleep soundly when you want it, where you desire it and how to do it.

Feel the rhythm of the ocean waves. Imagine you are floating with the slow, moving clouds and hear the sweet music dancing across the perimeters of your mind.

You owe yourself at least this much before you retire for the night. Tomorrow is another chance to do something great, something wonderful and also another opportunity to repay others for their kindness.

Breath of Life

Almost all life forms breathe. The key to good health lies in proper breathing.

It is not a state secret that deep breathing done with a sense of rhythm can inject some vitality into your life form. Perhaps that is too scientific, let's just call it body.

Many people just breathe, without thinking. That's the difference between the Zen masters and the ordnary Joes. The Zen Masters breathe with a purpose. They indulge in slow, deep, rhythmic breathing.

Deep breathing slows down your heartbeat, lowers your blood pressure and gives your internal organs a chance to go on a short holiday.

The idea is to do it so often, naturally and purposefully until it becomes part of you.

I have been doing it for decades. I must add that deep breathing has re-energised me at those times when I needed it most. It calms the mind.

When you are practising deep breathing, visualise as if you are moving like the ocean waves. Feel the rhythm, as they say. Let your body loose and allow it to flow like the waters of a gentle brook.

Hear the chirping of the birds on those tiny, green branches and little pinpoint peeks of the sun. See it in your mind, calm your body with your thought and flow like the celestial wind along the highways of the Milky Way.

You have nothing to lose but time. With that you will slow down your ageing process.
